HoldOn is a companion tool for families living with memory loss. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the HoldOn website at holdontogether.com, any waitlist or contact forms we make available, and the HoldOn mobile app, including beta and preview versions.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use HoldOn, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Contact and account information: your name, email address, login credentials, and messages you send to us.
  • Memory book content: patient names, family member names, relationship labels, emergency contact phone numbers, helper email addresses, home-related information, rooms, written stories, notes, and similar content you choose to enter.
  • Photos, audio, and media: photos you upload or paste, voice recordings, and related media metadata.
  • Location information: if you choose to enable location features, the app may collect significant location-change data and activity timeline entries.
  • Device permissions and local data: camera, microphone, photo library, clipboard images when you choose to paste an image, and local cached files used to support app features and offline access.
  • Subscription and purchase information: if paid plans are enabled, app stores and related billing providers may process subscription information associated with your account.
  • Technical information: device type, operating system, app version, basic log data, and hosting or security logs generated when you use the website or app.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve HoldOn;
  • create and sync memory books and related content;
  • enable photo, voice, helper, and location-based features you choose to use;
  • respond to support requests and communicate with you;
  • protect the security, integrity, and reliability of the website and app;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. How Information Is Stored

HoldOn uses third-party infrastructure providers to operate the service. At this time, this may include services such as Google Firebase for authentication, database, file storage, and website hosting, as well as Expo services for app build and update infrastructure. Some content may also be cached locally on your device to support offline access and media playback.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • with service providers who help us operate the website or app;
  • with other users you authorize, such as invited helpers or family contributors;
  • with Apple, Google, payment, or subscription providers if paid features are enabled;
  • when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or security.

6. Your Choices

  • You can choose whether to provide optional photos, audio, stories, and location access.
  • You can decline device permissions, although some features may not work without them.
  • You can contact us to request account assistance, correction, or deletion of your information.

7. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate HoldOn, support users, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. If you request deletion, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to delete or de-identify the requested information, subject to technical, legal, and backup limitations.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

HoldOn is designed for adult caregivers and families. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
